Ardrossan Connections Design Festival Workshops

ACDT are working in partnership with Sustrans Scotland and North Ayrshire Council on the Ardrossan Connections project.
Design Festival Workshops

Throughout the festival Ardrossan Connections are hosting two different kinds of workshops. Both will provide a summary of what has have learned from the community so far and will present some key themes that will be used to develop designs with the community.

Then the workshops will differ in focus – one focussing on Connections and the other focussing on Placemaking.

The workshops will run from Wednesday 7th April – Monday 26th April.

More details on how to attend and get involved in the workshops are further down this page.

1

Design Workshop: Connections
Focuses on movement by people and vehicles, exploring solutions to improve the National Cycle Network routes in Ardrossan and accessibility and attractiveness of walking, wheeling and cycling routes.

2

Design Workshop: Placemaking
Focuses on redesigning public spaces and looking at how to make Ardrossan’s history and heritage visible throughout the town.

…The more people involved, the better the needs of the whole community will be reflected.
Project Details

Sustrans Scotland are working in partnership with North Ayrshire Council and Ardrossan Community Development Trust on the Ardrossan Connections project.

The project is an exciting opportunity to make improvements to the quality and experience of the National Cycle Network in Ardrossan and ensure it acts as a better connection to the centre of Ardrossan for more people, and a strategic route between the Three Towns and throughout North Ayrshire.

The project will also aim to improve signage, celebrate local heritage and support access to affordable, independent and non-motorised travel.

The project focuses on long-term changes and it is crucial to involve local businesses and community organisations based in the Study Area to ensure one vision for the area is developed, and proposed designs have positive impacts on the local businesses and community organisations such as increase footfall.

Working In Partnership
How Can You Support The Project?

In January, Ardrossan Connections asked the community to share their ideas and aspirations for the area through our online consultation.

These ideas have been gathered, and its now at the stage of looking to develop these into designs with input from local people.

Ardrossan connections are promoting a series of workshops for local people to hear what’s been proposed so far, and help develop design proposals.
