2021 ended well for ACDT and Ardrossan residents with the welcomed news that NAC were successful in their bid to the Scottish Government for Regeneration Capital Grant Funds (RCGF) totalling £748,000. We also secured £249,000 from the Lottery meaning that 2022 will see around £1m of investment on Ardrossan South Beach. Great news for Ardrossan. 2022 went off with an equally good start with planning permission granted for the conversion of the existing toilet block and the addition of beach huts and the reintroduction of crazy golf on the promenade.
This was followed with planning permission being granted for the additional playpark elements on the ground at South Beach. We have yet to submit an application for a building warrant and to tender for the project.

The Trust also made an application to North Ayrshire Council’s Community Investment Fund (CIF) and secured £53,000 to employ a Community Development Officer who will take charge of the project and ensure its delivery this year. The Officer will also work with the wider community and we will be advertising to fill this position in the coming few weeks. These are very exciting times for Ardrossan and it pays testament to the resolve and commitment of the people of Ardrossan and their wish to regenerate and develop their town.
Coupled with the future investment in the harbour and the ferry terminal/port, the Ayrshire Growth Deal investment and North Ayrshire Council’s plans for development of the Campus proposals around the old Shell oil site at North Shore, there is a lot going on. We are also in partnership with Sustrans and North Ayrshire Council to ensure delivery of the Ardrossan Connections project.
